Material Architecture Lab (M-A-L) is a design and research laboratory based at The Bartlett School of Architecture (B-Pro), University College London. We are curious, playful and inquisitive. M-A-L engineers imagined opportunities, cooks without recipes and constructs solids out of liquids. We care about environmental impact of material extraction and we believe in producing less to do more. Whether designing or making, it is the everyday and the ordinary that we seek to transform. At the heart of our practice’s collaborative work is a commitment to stretch the bounds of experimentation and to fabricate purposive trial and error. M-A-L is not afraid of failure and even less so the unfamiliar.
